With new eyes: the animal rights movement and religion
Article Abstract:
Animal rights activists have been increasingly using religous themes to support their cause. The social problems created by the activities of animal rights activists have hindered the progress of biomedical research. Medical research utilizing laboratory animals has helped scientists develop new cures which would benefit humanity. Animal rights activists have failed to illicit support from different religious denominations.

Aristotle believed that fetuses develop as a result of the combination of male semen and female menstrual fluids. However, by the end of the 19th century, the cellular characteristics of the sperm and the egg were proven and the process of the development of the zygote was explained.
