YPS seeks AMA help to tackle restrictive covenants
Article Abstract:
Restrictive clauses in contracts that young physicians sign causes them to have to restart their practices in another market and sometimes in another state. Noncompete clauses were originally signed to prevent young doctors from taking the patients of their mentors, which were older physicians. The Young Physicians Section of the American Medical Assn wants excessive restrictive clauses to be abolished.

We need 'a real, bread-and-butter' commitment
Article Abstract:
Physicians must effectively weather changes in the medical community while maintaining their committment to quality care and the time-honored standards established by their forerunners. As bureaucracy and the bottom line increasingly encroach upon physician autonomy, medical practitioners must band together to ensure that quality of care does not suffer and that a unified voice prevails.
