The Spanish innovative firm and the ESPRIT, RACE and EUREKA programmes: an organizational approach
Article Abstract:
A survey of 51 Spanish companies was undertaken to find out the organizational and managerial aspects of successful ventures into technological innovation. Results show that there is a core group of firms spearheading the effort towards innovation and emphasizing the importance of research and development activities. These firms, however, are hampered by the highly bureaucratic procedures involved in collaborative research ventures with other European companies.

Breeding innovation clusters through collaborative research networks
Article Abstract:
The role of collaborative research networks in the formation of innovation clusters is examined. Results reveal that collaborative research serves as a tool for the identification of innovation clusters and that cluster formation should be based on research objectives, network information and keywords. The iterative cluster breeding approach is proposed as the ideal path for forming national innovation systems.
