American novelist Peter Benchley was known for writing thrilling fictional entertainment novels such as Jaws (1974) that was on the New York Times bestseller list for almost a year and sold more than 20 million copies. Some of his other masterpiece novels are The Deep (1976) and The Island (1978) that were also made into feature films similar to Jaws, the most frightening movies in Hollywood history.
