The latest controversy on commemorative postage stamp honorees was the anger over the mushroom cloud drawing honoring the end of WW II in the Pacific Ocean area. An account of several other controversial subjects for postage stamps and the outcome of the battles, are recounted.

U.S. wartime stamps caused controversy
Article Abstract:
Stamps issued during World War II had symbolic messages of victory and struggle. A stamp representing the allied countries of the United Nations depicting swords was criticized for resembling fascism. Most stamps, however, were appreciated for their positiveness.
