Article Abstract:
One-fifth of the Sonoran Desert's flora is edible that contains valuable foods that could be stored in order to sustain the people when fresh plants were unavailable. The gathering of wild foods from the desert was literally life sustaining, but it served another important purpose of fostering social communication.
