Growing into summer

Gardening means doing certain things as the season moves on towards summer. Gardening activities for May and June are suggested. These include hilling up white potatoes, and putting out tomato seedlings in May. The warmth of June calls for sowing lettuce seeds and picking peas, among other activities.

Broccoli

Broccoli is easy to grow because it can flourish in cooler temperatures around 60 to 65 degrees. To avoid club root and other fungus diseases that inhibit water absorption, limestone and wood ash must be added as part of neutralizing the soil pH factor.
