The purpose of a hedge should be decided upon before the plants are bought. Important considerations are whether evergreen or deciduous is desired; will they be free growing or clipped, for privacy or as a sound barrier, and what height is wanted. Tips are given on choosing plants, spacing, and clipping.

Storing tender bulbs for winter
Article Abstract:
Tropical bulbous plants grown in cold climate must winter over in storage. The correct botanical terms for some of the bulb-like growing bodies are discussed. They are tubers, rhizomes, tuber-corms, and corms. Tips are given on how to store them from such flowers as dahlias, canna, and gladiolus.

Honeysuckle
Article Abstract:
Honeysuckle comes in many varieties including bush habit and vines. How to grow and maintain honeysuckle, and how to control its pests are discussed. The old children's tradition of sucking the sweet nectar from the common Lonicera variety is remembered.
