A row cover or cold frame enables the planting and harvesting of lettuce all year round. Vigorous and fast-growing varieties such as Deer Tongue and Amish Winter Lettuce are recommended for planting as early as January. Additional varieties and growing techniques are described.

Plant prolific pole beans!

Pole beans grow prolifically in small places. These string, snap and green beans, which grow tall rather than bushy, produce as much as 10 times more than low growing bush beans. Varieties of pole beans appropriate for various climates and conditions are described.
