The description on the first issue of commemorative stamp, the one of the two basic stamps that are illustrated with subjects ranging from notable persons the natural world, historic happenings, sport-related themes, and music is presented. The first commemorative stamp was issued in England early in the 19th century and has gained popularity since Franklin and Washington first appeared on the mailing scene.
