Article Abstract:
Michael Hopping invested four years of labor to carve a lovely flower garden from the sugarcane fields in Port Allen, LA, beyond the levee that holds back the Mississippi River. His garden abounds with hollyhocks, poppies, society garlic and African lilies, with an 1850s privy-turned-toolshed as the centerpiece.
