The American Horticultural Society launched an innovative program called the Green Garage to spread the word about garden products, supplies, techniques, and practices that are safe, smart, and environmentally friendly. The aim of the Green Garage is to encourage gardeners to take a look at their current practices, and to consider alternatives that would help them enjoy their favorite hobby while working in harmony with nature.

Sun protection for gardeners
Article Abstract:
Several guidelines and tips by experts on necessary precaution for gardeners to protect their skin from getting affected from the damaging effects of solar radiation especially UV rays are presented. One of the best way to minimize sun damage is to limit the time one spends outside and wearing sunscreen and having appropriate clothing when the UV rays are strongest.

Article Abstract:
Hints for easier gardening by senior citizens are discussed and can include choosing plants requiring low maintenance and ergonomic gardening tools. Raised flower beds are another possibility for physically challenged gardeners. Profiles of elderly gardeners are given.
