Woven wicker: An American classic

Wickers have been very popular among the Americans as they are supple, lacy and airy, lending itself to versatile number of treatments, ranging from elaborate excess to quiet subtlety. The word wicker is believed to be of Scandinavian origin, from the words 'wika' means 'to bend' in Swedish and 'vikker,' meaning 'willow'. A brief description of the various styles of wicker products used in the early centuries and later, is presented.
