1998 US benefits update
Article Abstract:
A persistence of the trends that characterized employee benefits management before 1998 was observed during the year. Foremost of these was the enduring value placed on defined contribution plans in the private sector, as evidenced by the development of innovative plans satisfying special needs. Another development was the successful implementation of these plans using the electronic medium. Meanwhile, the public sector saw the foundation being laid for future legislative and regulatory actions, particularly those relating to social security. However, the major events on the legal front concerned the Medicare.

How to retain UK executives
Article Abstract:
Remuneration proposals aimed at enabling companies to attract, retain and motivate executives are analyzed. It is suggested that remuneration is an effective way of attacting executives, though it may not play an important role in retaining them.
