Annual review article 1994
Article Abstract:
The UK economy was coming out of recession in 1994 and companies have benefited from higher profits, while labor unions have exercised little pressure for a share in these profits. Employers have not sought to change industrial relations, while labor unions are concerned about job security. Labor unions are awaiting an improvement in the political climate, and are faced with legal hurdles arising from changes in labor law. Labor unions will need to recruit in companies where there are no unions, and could delay this move for too long.

Annual review article 1992
Article Abstract:
There appear to have been few significant changes in the management of industrial relations in the UK in 1992, although the year may have marked a transition between old and new structures and attitudes. The continuing recession forced firms to cut jobs but efforts were made to improve employment opportunities for women. Attitudes to training varied but quality received greater recognition. Despite innovations in employee involvement, a gap remains between the stated policy of management and actual management practice.

Annual review article 1991
Article Abstract:
Industrial relations in Britain underwent few significant changes in 1991, with wages continuing to be settled in a background of recession. Developments include derecognition, though this is not the main sign of hostility to unions in companies. Training was also on the agenda during 1991. Meanwhile, the increasing importance of joint ventures on an international scale merits further research by specialists in the industrial relations field.
