An estimated one in three-road traffic accident involves somebody who is at work at the time of the accident. A list of risk control measures for company car use are provided that include eliminating unnecessary journeys by road, especially in bad weather and setting safe, achievable driving schedules so as to minimize stress and fatigue among drivers.

Company car drivers have a 30-50% higher risk of having an accident, where younger, less experienced drivers have a greater accident liability than older, more experienced drivers. Employers must make efforts to reduce risk by developing a better road safety culture, ensuring safer vehicles, safer journey planning and improved driver competence.
