Employment of Women Workers
Article Abstract:
Tables showing women workers as a per cent of all employees in New York state are featured. Over 1,300,024 women worked in the manufacturing sector in October 1983. This was 4,000 more women than had worked in that sector in September 1983. Sector division gains in the durable goods manufacturing category were strongest in transportation and weakest, or negative, in fabricated metal production and instrument manufacturing. Durable goods manufacturing did not experience an increase of women workers from September to October of 1983, while nondurable goods manufacturing did. Tables of data for the entire state, the Combined Area and the Upstate areas are included.

Article Abstract:
A special section of this review of labor statistics for New York State in the first quarter of 1983 classifies insured employment and payroll covered by unemployment in tables of statistical data. Industries are considered in the following sectors: durable and nondurable goods manufacturing, mining, agriculture and forestry, construction, transportation, wholesale and retail, financial and service-oriented. Separate statistical tables are given for New York City, the Nassau-Suffolk area, the Westchester area, the Binghamton area, the Buffalo area, the Rochester area and the Utica area. Tables are also included for county statistics.
