European Works Council: transnational employee information and consultation rights
Article Abstract:
The European Union (EU) granted employees of multinational companies the right to legally avail of transnational information and consultation services via the Directive on European Works Councils. However, the Directive's effects on multinational company personnel and owners remain to be seen. The many possible interpretations of EU's Directive can create compliance problems. Multinational employees will have to evaluate their information and communication systems to confine employee interests to the organization.

The EC's social protocol: a relaunch for solcial policy?
Article Abstract:
The EC Protocol on Social Policy is a detailed guideline addressing employment issues that are not covered by the Treaty of Rome. The Protocol, in order to take effect, must be ratified before the start of 1993 by all national parliaments. Companies and trade unions, in anticipation of the Protocol's ratification, must voice their opinions and demands regarding social policies and employment issues to influence the EC's legislative measures.

Corporate social responsibility and global employment rights
Article Abstract:
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is given a lot of importance by some of the very well known and huge companies. The extent to which the companies take initiatives and the various actions for CSR depends on the local communities where it functions, and on the other hand, the global employment rights that are decided with the international trade unions need to be modified.
