Article Abstract:
The sickness absence level in the public sector has resulted in 4.7% loss of working time as against 3.4% in the private sector and 4% for all industries average. The Spending Review has taken a serious view of this and directed public sector to manage more efficiently.

Exploring the link, among small firms, between management training and firm performance: a comparison between the UK and other OECD countries
Article Abstract:
There is ambiguity in the evidence relating management training to small firm performance. Results suggest that the relatively low take up of formal management training is an informed decision on the part of the small firm owner/manager.
