Intracom pioneers 35-hour week

Greek telecommunications firm Intracom S.A. is offering a comprehensive set of new benefits which includes allowing most workers to perform only a 35-hour work week but keep their same pay. Other employee retention efforts by the firm are discussed.

Telefonica cuts jobs to stem losses

Telefonica is planning to downsize its labor force by 10,000 to 15,000 in an effort to improve its operative and commercial efficiency. The company hopes to see profits again after it posted losses in 2002.
