Man of the moment: David Tagg
Article Abstract:
Grand Metropolitan (GM) group Services Director David Tagg is currently focusing on two issues. One is motivating new managers to formulate plans to change the way things are done within 100 days of their appointments. Another is finding ways to provide more incentives for employees to become more involved in their work, perhaps through profit-related pay. Tagg has a long and varied background in the personnel field. Former employers in the personnel field have included Massey Ferguson, Cadbury Schweppes, Platt Saco Lowell, and Watney Mann and Truman Breweries. The last is owned by GM, which also owns restaurants and hotels, betting and food enterprises, contract services, wines and spirits, and various licensees. Total GM employment is 140,000.
