Managing international benefits
Article Abstract:
Many multinational corporations are not adequately equipped to deal with benefits management on an international level, despite their increased investments outside their home country. Because local management is not trained to manage benefits adequately and direct control by the parent over benefits programs of subsidiaries are often impractical, a central resource that can advise management on all aspects related to benefits provision needs to be instituted. The international benefits manager is one such central resource.

Postretirement healthcare issues for a global workforce - from a US multinational's perspective
Article Abstract:
An analysis of US multinational companies' practices in managing retirement healthcare benefits reveals that companies would do well to analyze factors affecting effective management. Factors to be considered include corporate commitments, decision maker identification, decision criteria, constraints to solutions, changing forces and constraints to change. The study also points out that companies would do well to factor in the retirement laws of other countries.
