Mercer's 1992 conference: Brussels

William M. Mercer Inc held a conference for representatives of its offices worldwide in Brussels, Belgium in Feb 1992. Conferees reported on pension and other employee benefits initiatives in their respective countries. Ulf Tworeck of Frankfurt, Germany, cited the introduction of legislation in his country which entitles workers to a portion of their retirement pensions even before they retire. On the other hand, Attilio Pellero of Milan, Italy, reported that despite his country's tarnished reputation overseas, his government continues to find ways to help its workers prepare for retirement.

Mercer Global HR Conference: New York
Article Abstract:
William M. Mercer's Global HR Conference for 1998 was held in New York Sheraton, NY, in Sep 1998. The affair, which was attended by 250 participants, began with a speech from the London Business School's Professor Lynda Gratton who discussed the 'High-Performing Work Forces: From Rhetoric to Reality.' Another speaker was Mark Baxter who focused on Hong Kong's new retirement policy. The conference's social program provided a fabulous choice of evening events including a tour of the Museum of Modern Art.

Mercer Global HR Conference: Barcelona
Article Abstract:
William M. Mercer's Global HR Conference was held in Barcelona, Spain. There were three plenary sessions and plenty of breakout sessions to provide an opportunity to learn about a variety of global human resource management techniques. Mercer consultants from branches all over the world gave their presentations. Human Resource and pension professionals from multinational companies also participated by co-hosting some of the activities.
