Organizing in Puerto Rico: interview with Jose La Luz

Labor organizer Jose La Luz feels his efforts on behalf of the AFL-CIO to organize Puerto Rican government workers has the potential to raise union density in that territory to over 35%. The Puerto Rican chamber of commerce and manufacturers voted against legislation permitting this campaign, but over 150,000 public service workers should decide the issue in March, 2000.
