Overview: economic and political perspective
Article Abstract:
Belgium is centrally located in western Europe, which promoted the multicultural and multilingual orientation of its people. Its economy's foundation is quite stable compared with its neighbors and while taxes are quite high, the level of education and social welfare are also high. Belgium's political situation is undergoing major changes as excessive government spending has caused the disillusionment of citizens. Belgium is expected to play an important part in the European market since its economy has always been export-driven.

Investors tapping into unparalleled potential of emerging Asian markets
Article Abstract:
Asian markets offer the best investment opportunities in the 1990s. Asia has posted a remarkable gross domestic product collective growth of 6.2% between 1982 and 1991. High foreign and intraregional investments, low wages, increasing consumer spending and standards of living and increasing real estate and infrastructure development have spurred Asia's growth. Moreover, Asia's growth is the result of the three-tiered structure of the regional economy.

A disciplined approach to investing in Asia
Article Abstract:
The potential economic gain from tapping into the Asian market can be optimized by analyzing the components of long-term growth in the sector. A study of the increase in regional stock-market capitalization and the performance of regional equity markets show it is more practical to take the sector as a whole rather than analyze each country. The growing integration of the market makes the traditional mehtod of economic analysis obsolete.
