Take action to change performance
Article Abstract:
Action learning is a management development technique that enables managers to promote knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. Action learning is defined by four characteristics: it is concentrated on real organizational problems; small peer groups meet to discuss progress; groups focus on problems related to their jobs; and groups receive help from an outside consultant. Aspects that make action learning successful include: training focused on real issues; strategies that give work a realistic element; a simple design of action; and a clear criteria for successful performances. Two management groups are discussed to illustrate concepts of the action learning process.
