Dealing with the Inflammatory Memo
Article Abstract:
A supervisor may receive a memorandum that criticizes his performance. The recipient's first response should be to remain calm and not confront the sender. The next step is to go to one's boss. In a logical and organized manner the supervisor can present his side of the charges. Then, return an explanatory memorandum to the original sender of the first memo, explaining the situation without evidence of maliciousness or vindictiveness. The supervisor should have his boss review the memo before sending it.
