Article Abstract:
The similarities and differences in the Qualification and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) schemes, which aim to improve the standards of health and safety in the workplace, are discussed. The QCA and UKAS have different roots of origin and routes to competence, yet their primary function overlaps.

Safety in care homes
Article Abstract:
The investigation of the health and safety standards in care homes, special needs of the elderly and the importance of working to National Care Standards Commission (NCSC) standards are outlined. The injuries and occupationally induced ill health in care homes for the older people are discussed.
