Benefits: costs and coverage
Article Abstract:
A survey to ascertain how much is spent on employee benefits and what types of employee benefits are being offered was conducted by Personnel Journal. It showed that $8.7 million was the average spent per company in 1985, which is about 14.8 percent of total payroll costs. The money was spent on a wide range of programs, led by group medical insurance, group life insurance and disability programs. Retirement benefits have become standard, the survey found. Cutting the cost of benefits has become a primary corporate concern.
