Processes and advantages of entry-level career counseling
Article Abstract:
The schools and families of young workers often fail to give good advice about vocational opportunities, causing workers to enter the work force with little idea of what they want to do or what they can do. Corporations that attempt to fill this gap by providing entry-level career counseling will be rewarded by improved job performance and lower employee turnover. The individual's skills should be carefully assessed prior to career development counseling to prevent young people from choosing a career goal by default. Available jobs that match the individual's skills and interests should be presented following the career development counseling sessions.

TRW makes the move to Macintoshes
Article Abstract:
TRW Corp needed to find a new way to organize its flexible benefits system, so the personnel department decided to take advantage of hypertext technology to solve its difficulties. The firm invested in Macintosh computers which use HyperCard because the technology enables information to be cross-referenced in a variety of ways including: text to text; text to graphic; and graphic to graphic. The system is now used to easily follow activities and trends.
