Left hand, right brain, wrong career?
Article Abstract:
Personnel managers should be aware of the different mental and emotional traits among left-handed and right-handed people and try to design work accordingly. Left-handed people, and some right-handed people, use the right side of their brain more. The right side of the brain is believed to control more of the artistic, intuitive functions and right-brained people tend to be more non-conformist, active, and independent. The left side of the brain, which is often associated with right-handed people, controls more of the logical, verbal, conformist functions. Right-brained people sometimes feel dissatisfied with their schooling and work because of the left-brained organizational structures within organizations. Companies can increase the efficiency of left-handed people and take advantage of their particular skills by allowing them to do more creative, independent, and visual work.

Article Abstract:
The Council for Management Education and Development has developed more details on their proposed Management Charter Initiative. The Management Charter Initiative would provide a certificate in management for candidates that have completed a program designed to introduce them to the techniques, language, and skills necessary in the first two years of management. The program would be divided into nine areas including: identification of the management task; personal skills; effective management practices; information management; management environments; personnel management; resource management; relations with customers; and personal effectiveness.
