Advanced technology helps law firms go global; Latham & Watkins and Winston & Strawn are among those that had to integrate foreign offices
Article Abstract:
Law firms with global practices such as Latham and Watkins and Winston and Strawn can use technology for globally based work groups and allow lawyers to telecommute while in transit between offices of the firm on a business trip. Web browsers allow lawyers to use documents from anywhere in the world in their legal research. Translation of documents in foreign languages is the one technology still in its infancy. However, the Internet and work group technology allow staff to rout documents to the right translators and balance workloads across different offices.
