Aspects of systemwide discontent: learning to live together, avoiding divorce
Article Abstract:
Many of the problems that develop between franchisors and franchisees can be attributed to poor communication. While franchisors tend to rely strictly on the franchise contract, franchisees put more weight on the franchise relationship, including promises made orally. Litigation incurs costs to the entire system through bad publicity, so it should be avoided through conflict resolution and fostering effective communication from the outset.

Y2K implications for franchising
Article Abstract:
The contractual obligations of privately held franchisors may be affected by the Y2K problem. Auditing all computer systems for Y2K compliance is essential for both franchisors and franchisees.
