Big-firm librarians to publishers: get your CD-ROM acts together
Article Abstract:
It is difficult to provide training for attorneys on CD-ROM databases because each publisher's products work differently. This aspect of library computerization causes the most problems for law librarians. Installation problems and lack of compatibility with basic word-processing programs also cause problems. CD-ROM technology will coexist with the Internet for the foreseeable future, and law librarians will have to answer most patron questions.

The sins of law firm Web sites: are ethical, dignified sites dull?
Article Abstract:
Attorneys' Web sites are plagued by the same types of issues affecting other forms of advertising by lawyers. While many sites contain useful information, disclaimers are necessary to protect attorneys from charges of solicitation of business. Legal ethical standards applicable to these sites must be developed so attorneys can comply with advertising laws which vary from state to state.

The latest trend in trial practice is to use World Wide Web sites to post litigation documents, solicit funds and support via e-mail from the public, and generally do battle with opposing counsel. High-profile disputes and also those involving high-technology terms and practices are particular candidates for the World Wide Web.
