Clinton's legal bills now exceed $8M - and counting
Article Abstract:
The Monica Lewinsky affair is but the latest example of Independent Counsel Kenneth W. Starr's investigations and how these have led to legal bills of more than $8mil for Pres Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary. The Clintons closed their first legal defense fund on Dec 31, 1997, after it had taken in $1.3mil, and will soon start another unencumbered by the old one's limits. The old one limited contributions to $1,000 and barred donations from corporations, lobbyists and unions. It could also not solicit funds. Clinton's indictment would be the independent counsel law's only solid bar to recovery.

A November surprise from Starr?
Article Abstract:
Suspense is high about special prosecutor Kenneth W. Starr's possible indictments during Pres Bill Clinton's second term. Starr's mandate has grown since he first started work over two years ago. One level of questions concerns what happened after Whitewater and who said what about what happened. Did any Clinton administration employee try to impede the first federal Whitewater investigation? Other issues include what happened with files in Vince Foster's office immediately after his suicide, Travelgate and Filegate.
