Clothier relies on its in-house rabbi
Article Abstract:
Samuel P. Fried, the vice pres, general counsel and secretary of The Limited Inc, owner of many specialty clothing stores across the US with annual 1997 sales of over $9 bil, is the company's sole in-house attorney. Before Fried's employment, the company had no in-house attorneys but instead had an outside counsel that doubled as an in-house law department. Fried saw it as his job to wean the organization away from that model. Fried views his role as a translator between business and legal languages.
