Developments in EC competition law in 2005: An overview
Article Abstract:
The major developments in European Community (EC) competition law in the year 2005 are discussed. As far as the policy initiatives are concerned, the first full year under the leadership of Competition Commissioner Neelie Kores is marked by long-term, relatively ambitious projects rather than short term actions such as sectoral inquiries in the areas of energy and financial services, comprehensive reviews of past practice and future policy in maritime transport and Article 82 EC.

Rough justice? An analysis of the European Commission's new finding guidelines
Article Abstract:
The European Commission has published revised Guidelines on the fining policy for violations of EC competition rules in June 2006 as the successor to the 1998 Guidelines. An analysis that identifies the changes and assesses improved deterrence of cartels and transparency if any in the revised Guidelines is presented.
