Health law; a process worth saving
Article Abstract:
The consequences of the expiration of the advisory opinion process, used by health care industry lawyers to mandate government response to requests evaluatin g whether certain arrangements violate the fraud laws, is discussed. The law could also be described as an anti-kickback statute.

Health law; 'gain-sharing' under fire
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the federal law's outlawing of gain-sharing arrangements between physicians and hospitals are discussed. The government argues that gain sharing constitutes payments to induce physicians to limit care to Medicare beneficiaries, in violation of the Social Security Act.

The re-assignment of much of the federal law enforcement personnel to counterterrorism investigation since 2001's World Trade Center and Pentagon Attacks is discussed. About 4,000 of the 11,400 FBI agents have been reassigned.
