Anthony E Varona, the general counsel and legal director of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a gay and lesbian civil rights organization, is profiled. The HRC has done work on various Supreme Court cases affecting gay rights. The organization's two biggest federal legislative projects are the Employee Non-Discrimination Act and the Hate Crimes Prevention Act.

Article Abstract:
Robertson C Jones, the senior vice pres and general counsel of Del Webb Corp, one of the largest builders of communities for senior citizens and the sixth-largest US builder of single-family homes, heads a department of 7 lawyers and 12 support-staff members whose work covers mainly property acquisition and "entitlements." The department is undergoing pretty rapid growth and attorneys can move up to regional counsel positions or laterally to operations, to such positions as general managers of Del Webb properties. The department views preventive law as very important and there is little litigation as a result.
