Article Abstract:
Inflation has been reduced by 1.5% and 900,000 jobs created in Europe due to single market factors, a European Commission (EC) report claims. The EC is urging member states to implement legislation which it considers will increase the benefits possible from the single market. The 1997 work programme for the EC includes commitments for improved efficiency by simplifying activities, decentralising and rationalising.
