More SoftWindows
Article Abstract:
Insignia Solution's SoftWindows 3.0 software emulation program offers a better price performance ratio than SoftWindows 95, but both offer good emulation and improved performance. The 3.0 version works by implementing an optimized version of Windows 3.1 as the operating system, allowing users to maintain access to most legacy applications. The 3.0 version also lets users run Windows 95 programs if users install the latter on top of SoftWindows, then re-run the Insignia utility. Both SoftWindows 3.0 and 95 now support the Microsoft LAN Manager and NetWare, as well as both TCP IP or NetBEUI connections. A new display driver makes performance seem faster, while a newly integrated feature lets users resize the Windows environment without having to reconfigure SoftWindows. Other improvements include the ability to connect to any Macintosh printer when working in a Windows application and SoundBlaster support.
