Perot's lawyer isn't shy about battling party bigs
Article Abstract:
Ross Perot's lawyer, Jamin B. Raskin, an advocate of using the Constitution against underrepresentation in government, usually fights for racial minorities but in trying to get Perot included in the presidential debates is fighting for a political minority. Experts agree that the Perot case's biggest legal difficulty is the status of the Commission on Presidential Elections, which excluded Perot from the debates, as a private, nonprofit group rather than a governmental body. Raskin's suit argues that the commission violated Perot's First Amendment rights and a Federal Election Commission regulation.

Lawyer-lobbyist dispute ignites ethics imbroglio
Article Abstract:
A New York Times story on the involvement of lawyers with Hunton & Williams in drafting legislation for congressional Republicans and in briefing staffers has raised concerns and launched an ethics debate. As a result, the Senate Judiciary Committee delayed for at least a month its vote, originally scheduled for Mar 30, 1995, on applying cost-benefits tests to new regulations. The ABA also has asked its executive committee to review the group's guidelines for members representing it.
