Precautions can mitigate legal dangers of Web sites; privacy concerns, hyperlink liability and jurisdiction issues should all be contemplated
Article Abstract:
Privacy policies, hyperlinks, and exposure to multijurisdictional suits are among the areas of concern for companies with an online presence. Privacy rights are a concern of increasing regulatory focus, and children's privacy concerns, the invasiveness of the new technologies and the European Union's Directive on Data Protection requiring member states to block transmission of personal data to countries lacking sufficient protection reveal this focus. Issues public companies face in establishing their own Web sites are also listed.
