Results in search of reasons: state sovereign immunity in the Rehnquist Court
Article Abstract:
The author discusses US Supreme Court cases, beginning in 1996, that have expanded state sovereign immunity from suits by private citizens. The cases are divided into two groups, ones that explain how the Court perceives immunity in the constitutional schemes, and ones that explain when Congress can abrogate immunity.
