Rising attraction of inflation-indexed securities
Article Abstract:
The mildly inflationary environment has sparked off investor interest in inflation-indexed securities issued by the US Treasury. However, concerns about the tax treatment of these bonds continue to hinder their use and appeal to tax planners. An examination of the tax rules for these kind of government securities reveals that most taxpayers need not be concerned by taxation since these bonds provide several excellent advantages to those who buy them. These inflation-indexed bonds can be used in a variety of ways. They can be used for tax-deferred accounts, kiddie tax avoidance, in low-bracket years and for educational bond exclusion purposes. The availability of these bonds on the Web make them even more appealing.
