Settlements steady at 3.5%
Article Abstract:
UK wage statistics for period Sept-Nov 1995 indicated pay awards stabilized at 3.5%. Manufacturing pay increases continued to be slightly higher than in the service sector. Almost 75% of the pay deals were higher than in the same period in 1994. The Ford pay settlement deal, despite media attention, historically has not had a significant effect on pay increases in other companies or in the engineering industry.

Settlements stable at 3%
Article Abstract:
UK pay awards have remained stable at 3% in Aug 1996 for the fifth straight month. A late-year upsurge in wage settlements, given low inflation and slow economic growth, is considered unlikely. Private sector settlements have been somewhat higher than those in the public sector and are expected to expand marginally towards the end of 1996. Manufacturing awards have been higher than in other industries.

Settlements pegged at 3%
Article Abstract:
UK wage settlements continued to average 3% through May 1997, as inflation remained low. Average wage increases held stable at 3% since Apr 1996, a total of 14 consecutive months. Wage inflation fears, spurred by the declining unemployment rate, appeared to be overestimated. Forecasters saw little chance of a radical shift in average settlements.
