Speedy O.J. trial raises doubts; some wonder: is a quick decision better than none at all?
Article Abstract:
The brief deliberation time of the jurors in the OJ Simpson murder trial continues to occupy the attention of the L.A. legal community. Some say the sequestration was to blame, keeping the jurors from thinking independently about the evidence after nine months of living together. The speed and nature of the acquittal have divided the wider community as well, largely along racial lines, but jury consultant Jo-Ellen Dimitrious, hailed as a defense champion in the case, predicts the jurors will eventually dispel notions of unfairness.

Is is reasonable to doubt the D.A.? O.J. Simpson jury wrestles with a gnarly concept
Article Abstract:
Jurors in the OJ Simpson trial must wrestle with the ill-defined concept of reasonable doubt, in the face of conflicting versions offered by prosecutors and the defense. Simpson's defense team wants jurors to decide whether the prosecution has disproven all alternative theories of the crime. Prosecutors want them to decide what is the single best explanation for all the evidence presented. Many experts think the jury will look for any way not to convict the actor and former football star of murder.

Jury to hear that O.J. beat his spouse; among 500 potential witnesses, some may tell of a history of wife abuse
Article Abstract:
Judge Lance A. Ito has ruled that jurors in O.J. Simpson's murder trial may hear evidence of Simpson's history of spousal abuse and stalking. Observers say this is a real victory for prosecutors who must operate without credible eyewitnesses or a murder weapon. Both sides have on their witness rosters world-famous DNA experts in a trial expected to focus heavily on scientific evidence.
