State falters in retrial of escaped con: governor orders probe of case that was subject of ABA Journal investigation
Article Abstract:
Adolph Munson was convicted of Alma Hall's murder in 1985 through questionable evidence that was investigated by the ABA Journal and he has been acquitted in a retrial in 1995. Oklahoma Gov Frank Keating refuses to pardon Munson but has ordered an investigation into the prosecution of the original case. Some of the questions about the evidence include witnesses indicating a white suspect while Munson is black, police redirecting questions about a possible suspect by saying he was in prison when he was not and inconclusive blood evidence.

Pathologist's plea adds to turmoil; discovery of possibly hundreds of faked autopsies helps defense challenges
Article Abstract:
Texas pathologist Ralph Erdmann, possibly guilty of regularly faking autopsies, has plea bargained with prosecutors and moved out-of-state. During his tenure, Erdmann gave evidence in 20 capital cases which resulted in convictions and in many lesser cases. Criminal defense attorneys are considering a class action or a request for a special prosecutor to investigate cases in which the pathologist participated.
