Technology and wealth
Article Abstract:
Financial services professionals can take advantage of technological advances by recognizing how business practices must change, studying how information technology breakthroughs are being used, sharing customer information and expertise with company home offices, acting as leaders in utilizing new technology, and self-education. Quick self-education, including electronic education via CD-ROM, has become essential. Technological changes, historically leading to increased wealth amid shorter cycles of economic and societal change, are driving the reengineering trend as well as creating opportunities for the financial services industry.

Article Abstract:
The Internet offers cost-effective resources to businesses and customers. Businesses can use the Internet's corporate Web home pages to inform shoppers about their new products. The use of e-mail to send out business letters can provide substantial savings. Access to the Internet can also be provided through on-line services such as America Online and CompuServe, or by using special kits that are easy to install. Microsoft's Windows '95 has a built-it kit that allows Internet access. Internet use is growing rapidly, with Web use doubling every two months.
