Article Abstract:
Herbert Chao Gunther, executive director of the Public Media Center, believes social responsibility is at odds with the profit-making motive of corporations, and the degree of social responsibility which has evolved can be attributed mainly to public relations. Corporate executives have been responsible for great wrongdoing, but have not been held accountable because of their ability to hide behind the corporate shield. Business has become so powerful in American life that it dominates government.
